Description

The ElecTest was designed to measure the electrical knowledge and skills required for electrical maintenance jobs.  It is intended for use with applicants or incumbents for jobs where practical electrical knowledge and skill are necessary parts of maintenance job activities.

This test was developed using content validation procedures using job experts to determine the most applicable items to the electrical maintenance job function. Specifically, job analysis conducted during development showed applicable titles for those job function are:

  • Electrician, Maintenance (any industry) by the Dictionary of Occupational Titles
  • Electricians (Electricians) as defined by The O*NET Dictionary of Occupational Titles

In addition to the content-related validation study used to create this assessment, a criterion-related validation study was also completed. ElecTest scores were found to be significantly correlated to overall performance ratings by managers.
